RESCONI Final Report on Workshop by TerraFund
From May 8th to 10th, 2024, three key officials of the Resource Conservation Initiative (RESCONI), including the Programmes Manager, Finance Manager, and GIS Officer, participated in a residential training program at Hill View Guest Center in Abokobi, Accra, in the Greater Accra Region. The Resource Conservation Initiative (RESCONI) embarked on a transformative research project, titled "SUPPORT TO PROMOTE COMMUNITY RESILIENCE AND RIGHTS IN COMPETING LAND USE FOR MINING, AGRICULTURE, AND FOREST UTILIZATION IN GHANA." This ambitious initiative sought to unravel the intricacies surrounding land use in the context of mining, agriculture, and forest utilization in Ghana, focusing keenly on the Asutifi North and Atwima Mponua Districts.

Achievements in Details
• Tree farmers and Forest Plantation Groups supported to establish private plantations covering over 500 hectares within Nkawie Off-Reserve Areas in the Ashanti Region of Ghana (2007 – 2008).
• Through the Protected Area Development Project (PADP II) undertook activities to conserve the biodiversity heritage in the Protected Areas of Ankasa and Bia, which host some of the last significant tropical rainforest fragments of the Upper Guinea Forest Ecosystem, running from Guinea to Togo (2009).
• Enhancement of the conservation strategies for Afram Headwaters Watershed and Catchment Management for long-term water resources for agriculture, industry and human consumption on a sustainable basis (2015).
• Development of the Guidelines for the Disbursement of Funds to Local Management Committees (LMCs) for the Management of Mining Community Development Schemes (2021).
• Training of 19 Local Management Committees (LMCs) for the Management of Mining Community Development Schemes (2021)
