RESCONI Participates in Capacity-building Workshop for Long-term Success and Sustainability of Restoration Projects
The training took place from the 25th to 27th March 2025 at Kyebi in the Abuakwa South Municipal District in the Eastern Region. It was designed to enhance the technical expertise and practical skills of participating Restoration Champions for the long-term success and sustainability of restoration projects.
The objectives of the interactive training session were on-site needs assessment to identify restoration challenges and technical gaps, hands-on experience in tree species selection, nursery management, soil conservation, erosion control, and sustainable land management practices. Additionally, Restoration Champions learnt some practical approaches to improve tree survival rates, soil health, and community engagement in restoration projects. Lastly, Restoration Champions were engaged in peer-to-peer knowledge exchange to share and learn from best practices across different project landscapes.
This training offered hands-on field sessions for the GIS Officer and Community Liaison Officers of RESCONI and one of its lead farmers actively involved in its TerraFund-funded project.
Following this training, RESCONI will establish a Demonstration Site and train other Restoration Champions within the project communities towards ensuring the effective transfer of this knowledge and skills.
