RESCONI Participates in Ghana Civil-Society Cocoa (GCCP) Platform Annual General Meeting
As a member of the Ghana Civil-Society Cocoa Platform (GCCP), Resource Conservation Initiative (RESCONI) participated in its Annual General Meeting (AGM) held from the 9th to 10th of April 2025 at the Sweet Pee Executive Hotel, Kumasi.
The entire coalition, which included other members such as Tropenbos Ghana, Rainforest Alliance, SEND Ghana, and Advocacy for Biodiversity Conservation, attended this meeting.
The focus of the meeting provided an avenue for capacity building on ongoing policies in the cocoa sector, including the European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), the fair trade living income reference prices for cocoa from Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire.
The interactive session discussed the well-being of the farmer under four thematic areas: (i) living income, (ii) human rights, (iii) environmental sustainability, and (iv) traceability and accountability. As part of the Traceability and Accountability Group, RESCONI took the opportunity to present its findings and raise issues for consideration and resolution with the GCCP.
Additionally, this AGM offered an opportunity for RESCONI to learn and share lessons with the coalition and has subsequently developed a Farmer Engagement Plan to keep its Farmer-Based Organizations (FBOs) abreast with the current ongoing policies in the cocoa sector for their total wellbeing.
