RESCONI participates in Restore Local Official Launch to Boost Locally Led Land Restoration Across Africa.

The Resource Conservation Initiative (RESCONI) was extended invitation by World Resource Institute (WRI) to join the launch of its flagship project RESTORE LOCAL on Tuesday, 25th February 2025 at the Community Centre, Kyebi in the Eastern Region.
Restore Local is an initiative convened by World Resources Institute to advance locally led land restoration across three of Africa's vital landscapes: Kenya's Greater Rift Valley, the Lake Kivu and Rusizi River Basin (Burundi, DRC, and Rwanda), and the Ghana Cocoa Belt.

RESCONI successfully participated in this important event aimed at celebrating the start of an innovative restoration movement and showcasing Restore Local’s groundbreaking progress and concrete actions so far.

RESCONI is a restoration champion under TerraFund for AFR 100 and implementing a project titled “Reforestation of degraded lands and riparian vegetation for improved climate resilience in Atwima Mponua and Asutifi North Districts”.

RESTORE LOCAL provides the restoration champions across Ghana with the support they need that is focused on prioritized landscapes in the Ghana Cocoa Belt. This has positioned WRI to contribute to Ghana’s goal of restoring 2 million ha of degraded lands by 2030, and overall, to the African Forest Landscape Restoration Initiative (AFR100).

Restore Local has already supported restoration champions since 2023, in growing 21.6 million trees, restoring over 50,000 hectares of degraded lands and creating more than 62,000 jobs since undertaking its established programmes in an effort to drive local economic growth, boost biodiversity, strengthen climate resilience and reduce greenhouse gas emissions in its project landscapes
